A new experience

I hadn’t designed a newsletter before, and it was a new, exciting and challenging project to get into, as a high revenue generator for the business, there were several factors i had to consider such as :

What can i do differently from existing newsletters?

How can i delight the users?

How can i make it easily scannable yet stand out?

What tone speaks to the kind of content i’ll be creating for each newsletter?

Limitations

“Dont do too much”. Before starting the developer on the project let me know he will be building on mailerlite, hence playing with shadows and certain elements was an impossible feat

What to do ?

I set out to research various newsletters, their approach to branding and design considering ad optimisation and screen real estate, while collaborating with the brand team and working with editorial and marketing on launch plans

A new era

I wanted to create something fun and unique, that users will enjoy and always look forward to also keeping in mind the style of zikoko and techcabal. With the help of my colleague on the design team, i was able to improve my art direction, which helped strengthen the designs

Impact

Currently being consumed by over 30,000 users on a regular basis

Increased revenue for the business via ad optimisation

Introducing- Money by zikoko

Money by zikoko seeks to make its consumers more knowledgeable about money- through stories, short definitions, quizzes and so on.

I had to come up with a design that gave the money feel, while being calm, relaxing and fun.  
With the use of illustrations, color, lines and other elements, i was able to bring a piece to life which stake holders loved.
